A replica (i.e. reproduction) map from the “Memorial Atlas of Ireland” printed with archival, pigment inks on matte fine art paper. Originally published in 1901, the “Memorial Atlas of Ireland” is a large, detailed, and colorful folio featuring maps of all 32 Irish counties as well as a map of the country itself. The original dimensions of the map are 29″ x 21″. Larger size are available. These highly detailed maps enlarge especially well.
The most populous cities and towns in County Mayo include; Castlebar, Ballina, Westport, Claremorris, and Ballenrobe.
Many reproduction maps for sale on the internet are taken directly from public domain sources (NY Public Library, Library of Congress, etc). Although great for research purposes, these image files frequently suffer from poor color accuracy, lens blur and distortion. The maps in our collection have been scanned from the ORIGINAL, flat, at high resolution, with precisely calibrated color, by archivists with decades of combined experience. This allows us to create printed replicas that are virtually indistinguishable from the original maps.
